Razorback Scooter Gang

Now see! I knew I loved my Hogs for many reasons!

One of the many reasons I bought my scooter a whopping four years ago, (I can't believe how time flies) was that you can park it at any bike rack on campus! And the permit for it? 5 bucks! Well it seems that our football players liked the idea too. I've seen the number of scooters growing all the time outside the stadium during football practices, but I was never really sure exactly how many there were.

Until someone sent me this article...

"Roughly 20 Arkansas football players own scooters that can go around 50 mph on straight-aways and 65-70 mph if they're heading downhill. Of course, their coaches are constantly telling them to slow down."

Yes please, slow down! We don't want our star players wrecking. That wouldn't be good for the image of the scooter in Arkansas!

They've even formed their own "Scooter Gang" called the Rydaz for which they have a hand signal that they often flash to the cameras when getting their pictures taken. Yay! I mean how cool is that!? If I had a picture that was mine to share, I would totally post it here, but alas I do not.

Ants in my Pants Update

Alrightie...

The uprising has been put down, but I think I'm permanently damaged from it. If you don't know about the original incident then by all means go read up. It was truly and absolutely horrific!

So I finally got up the courage to give the scooter a nice detailing. The first thing I did was unscrew the taillight cover. *cringes in horror at the sheer memory of it* And a mass of wiggling squirming ants and larva fell out. It looked something like this...

I have a video too, but I don't want to shock and horrify anyone that throughly. I thought I would die! In fact, I was much too traumatized to continue. So I screwed the cover halfway back on and ran away. Yes, I fled like a scared little girl!

Sometimes you gotta run! Hush! Living to fight another day and all!

This worked to my advantage, however, because the next day when I went back to finish all the ants had abandoned their posts and taken their creepy, little larva with them.

So in the end I conquered! After two retreats, I won the war!

Ants in my Pants!!!

Okay! Now they weren't actually in my pants. So you think where might they actually have been? Well let me tell you!

I don't get to ride my scooter very often much to my dismay. So whenever I have the opportunity naturally I take it. This weekend my darling husband and I decided to have Mexican from the place that is just about 3 miles down the road from our house. So I thought...Perfect!!! I'll make him watch Nicky and I'll go pick it up, then I'll get to take a nice refreshing scoot around the neighborhood. If only I had known!

I saw an ant on the leg shield of my scooter, but I didn't think much of it. I seem to live in the ant capital of world. It's a constant battle to keep them out of the house. So I brushed little Miss. Ant off and opened up the helmet storage under the seat, took out my helmet, and went on my merry way.

Remember always wear your helmet!

Nicky agrees...

Yes, that WAS just a blatant excuse to show you my adorable boy!

So I put on my helmet closed the compartment and hopped on my scooter. It was a lovely ride on the way there. Absolutely nothing was out of the ordinary. I went inside picked up my fajitas and headed out to my scooter. Now scooters don't have the best storage for food in the world, but in this case the helmet compartment would have been absolutely perfect for the size of what we'd ordered. So I popped the lid and looked down into the compartment. There were like 5 ants crawling on my Scooter Seat Cover, which I hadn't put back on after I took it off to protect it from the rain. I really MUST get a carport!

So I lifted up the seat cover and the owners manual at the bottom of the compartment and what I found underneath will haunt me for the rest of my life!!! There was a colony of ants!!! Now I don't just mean that there were a bunch of ants! That would have been bad enough! No, there was a freaking colony! Complete with little baby ant larva!!! I don't think I've ever been so disturbed in my life!

I got my glove and started trying to wipe all the ants and larva out of there and had almost all of them out when I looked over at my tail light. *Shudders* Now I don't know if they'd been living in there or they picked up their little ant babies and made a break for it and that is where they ended up, but I could see all these little black things (ants) and white things (larva) moving around underneath the plastic of the tail light!!! I thought I would die. I couldn't get in there to get them out without a screwdriver, and I had to get home! So I tied the handles of my bag with my food together and hung it from my handlebar. Which if you have never tried...is not a fun way to ride a scooter! However I couldn't exactly put my food where I'd planed on putting it, because while I'm all about protein in my diet ants floating in my cheese dip is just really not what I'm going for!

I did make it home with our dinner intact. I must say however that my appetite was not what it was before I'd left to pick it up!

I still haven't been brave enough to go conquer the colony living in my poor, sweet little scooter.
*Peeks out the back door at it and shudders* I promise I'll get you all cleaned up soon, baby!!!

Scooter Girl Comic

Now I'm not a big comic book fan. I only recently found our local comic book store, when seeking out the new Anita Blake comic, but I just found this one that I'm going to have to buy!

Scooter Girl by Chynna Clugston-Major

I Need a Buddy!!!

A PINK 125 Genuine Buddy to be exact!

My best scooter buddy tipped me off on this scooter ages ago.

I know what you're thinking... And its not JUST because it's pink! It's also got a lot more umph than my little Metro. It'll get up to about 60 MPH. Now I don't plan on cruising the highways on my scooter so why do I need to be able to go 60? Because sometimes you need to be able to get the heck out of the way. I'll need a motorcycle license before I can actually drive it, because in Arkansas if it's over 75 cc's you need one. I'm thinking I'll take the motorcycle safety class that the local community college does. Of course, I can't afford my buddy now so it really doesn't matter, but hey its good to dream!

I actually saw one of these for real the other day! There is a place in town that sells them. I didn't even realize it, until I saw this adorable pink scooter sitting out in front of the place. I squealed quite loudly and then had to return my attention to driving my car. *Sighs*

Distant Rumbling and Grumpy Baby

Its Bikes, Blues and BBQ here in Fayetteville and I've never seen so many motorcycles in one place. There are also some scooters but not too many. If only we could have a GIANT scooter rally here... Oh well, one can but dream.

There are even motorcycles as far out as we live, and if you're quiet outside there is a constant distant rumbling. My friend, Lishy, pointed it out to me and its really lovely! Like we have the ocean nearby or something. The dogs have finally gotten used to the sound of the bikes and don't bark every single time one goes by. That was getting more than a little old. My little guy is teething and he is grumpy and hard to get to take a nap anyway so dogs waking him up when he has just fallen asleep has been more than a little irritating.
